Default what are the system requirements for this game?

Hello. I have played this game on my desktop computer and it is amazing. I have one question though. If i bought a powerbook G4 would this game play decently at all?

I know the mac version is still in development.

i think he is joking.

from my experience i can confirm 256mb ram is not enough. i would say 512 mb ram is minimum. i also have 1.3ghz duron and 64 mb graphics card. i think i am playing on minimum. from time to time it feels like my cpu isnt strong ehough, when there is something going on in the background (communication with browser or something??) while i play.

  • 3-D Hardware Accelerator with full OpenGL® support
  • Pentium® 233 Mhz MMX®processor with 8 MB Video Card
Or Pentium II 266 Mhz processor with 4 MB Video Card
Or AMD® 350 Mhz K6®-2 processor with 4 MB Video Card
  • 64 MB RAM
  • A 100% Windows® 95/98/NT 4.0 compatible computer system (including compatible 32-bit drivers for CD-ROM drive , video card, sound card and input devices)
are the system requirements for quake III arena. quake live has slightly updated graphical elements so it's probably a bit higher than that.

edit: faq on the main site, look around next time.

Well it will run on alot less than that. My other computer is a 600mhz with 394mb of ram and geforce 2 64meg. The lowest i seen the frames go is 35 but it runs good considering it was bought in 2000.

I bought a laptop for school WORK. A Toshiba Tecra last year (December 2007).

Processor: Intel Centrino Duo
Graphic Card: Piece of sh1t graphic card on motherboard
RAM: 2gig of super cheap RAM
Windows Vista basic

I can run the game between 90-125 fps all the time on the lowest settings possible.

If this can help you...

On my old 2003 Game computer... wich stayed at my familly house...

Intel P4 3ghz 800mhz fsb
Asus P4P800 motherboard
ATI Radeon 9800XT
1gig of CORSAIR 400mhz bla bla (can't remember)

I run Quake3Arena between 125-250fps (maybe more) everything on high.

If that can help you also...

My 1.6ghz single-core CPU sometimes struggles to maintain high frame-rates in Quake Live, but it can do it in Q3A, so I would say that Quake Live is more system demanding than Q3A.

The whole point about quake live is that you don't need any amazing hardware at all, as long as you cpu can cope with IE 7 or 8 being open and maybe other things; same with the ram then all the game is, is just streaming video, the server at the other end is doing all the hard work so to speak, its their fault if its lagging!
