play 10 games and it will be 2 games really skilled
The tiers don't work at all, The rating system might as well not exist. There are maybe 3 out of 10 CTF games balanced, in FFA there is 9 times out of 10 one guy who wins with 50 to 10 frags in front of the second who has something like 40 to 25. It's broken, sorry.
Seriously, I think shuffle is messed up, and we could manually do a much better job if we have a symbol of the tier we are at, next to our nick.
Like a big color dot, color=tier. Having it would be nice by itself, ingame and out.
But simply looking at 4 gold dots and 2 silver dots, VS 1 golden, 1 silver and 3 bronze... needs some adjustment.
Assuming your tier ranking it's decent, if we could actually see it, would be useful.
really is funny to see some of these people really going to town on how ID sucks because they havent sorted out shuffle and skill rating, yes its irritating but for the most part the game is/was free so u tell me when u enter any other game (blackops,tf2,l4d,cs) where ur matched by skill and the teams are even AND these are games u payed for!
Use ur brain seriously do u understand the work that has to go in to working those mechanics!? no u dont! and on what i would imagine is not a huge bank balance either so cut them some slacks u simpletons and skill up or move out! or put up and shut up!
this doesnt work on CA.. the guy with lower Time/dmg isnt automatical the lower skilled player.
we need a other factor for teamgame, not every player has to get highscore to be a good teamplayer
i know a lot of people who get highscore because they avoid teamplay.. its difficult to get more dmg in a 2vs2 than in a 1vs2
i know time/dmg is the important thing in CA but not with a player who plays the full time alone..
another thing to shuffle and even teams.. i think shuffle works very well because its just mathematic..
maybe one team has a bit higher skill after shuffle but the biggest different is the team morality.. what i want to say, after a shuffle is the win chance 50:50 if the team realize this and start teamplay
and FFA needs a "everyone can see the Quad timer" i think thats why ffa is so easy for a skilled player and the beginners dont realise this.
or disable quad, or give quad automaticaly to the last two players every 60seconds without drop.. (scary idea i know)

I don't think the shuffle system is broken, it seems to work out fairly even teams usually. What does frequently happen is that highly rated players are playing under their average level and so don't perk up the team as much as expected. (Frequently happens amongst my clan members when booze is involved). Your skillrating is an average, half the time you will play better, half the time you will play worse. All you can hope for is that in your game it balances out. I frequently play like crap for a game or two, then play out of my skin for a couple, then drop off in performance after that gradually. This is also why tier slumming is good.
I warm-up in Tier 3 ctf, usually only just coming top/second in the team, this is highly dependent on the map. If it has runes I'll probably be quite low in the scores as players in tier 4 tend to play the competition pool maps more frequently rather than the 'fun' space/rune maps and so I'm relatively inexperienced on those maps compared to the tier 3ers who seem to almost play nothing else.
After a game or two I move up to my tier, where I invariably get hammered as I'm nowhere near as good as the better players in tier 4.
If I join a tier 4 game straight away, I am so useless I make half my team ragequit/***** and it'll be 8-0 but if I join after a game or two warm-up then I can be a useful addition (sometimes even scoring a cap or two).

THe trouble is Tier = Win matches and CTF and so on is mutch more Teamwork and if the Team is bad u will lose and goes down with your tier....It must be find a way to setup the Skill for each Player and not how many wins or lost he has
let me just say that i love the "skill matched" system although it might not be perfect yet. i used to play quake 2 and quake 3 and i got butchered 99% of the time (people had played those games for years 24/7), now i feel like most of the time I atleast stand a chance.

so if 80% has equal scores with a negative dmg ratio and 1 player on each team has 3 times the damage delivered to recieved, and 3 times theire damage delivered, nothing is going to change... its just based on what people score and not the actual skill of the players?
