Thanks for the modified version... i'm just too lazy to do it my self

Its a shame that id is not releasing a new plugin version nor giving any information to all the FF users out there... Another reason to dream of a standalone, non-browserbased version of QL. I think i will go back to Q3 for the next LAN session.

q3a for lan is defenitely a good choice, and you even can install mods!
(yeah I always go for excessive plus, cpma and sometimes some others, but that's basically it.)

Has anyone been able to get this working for Firefox 7 yet? I gave the patch for versions 6 and 7 (thread page 10) which did install but ends up crashing after choosing a map to play.

If you're having issues try the FF8 beta, quakes working fine in that and I'm not having any betaish issues.

The issue was fixed in yesterday's update.

Current plugin offered by quakelive.com claims support for Firefox 9.0 now (nightlies so far).

I still made a version compatible with any Gecko-based browser (Firefox, SeaMonkey, Prism...), if you have a need for such modification, you can grab it here: http://Lam.pl/QuakeLivePlugin_491_ff9.xpi

I have FF 10 and SUSE Linux 11.4, the plugin always crashes when I try to start a map/game.

It crashes when the ad starts before the game.

In the mozilla bug report I found the line

X_GLXMakeCurrent: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)xpcom_runtime_abort(###!!! ABORT: X_GLXMakeCurrent: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes): file /usr/src/packages/BUILD/mozilla/toolkit/xre/nsX11ErrorHandler.cpp, line 190)

but I don't know what this means

    What is the trick???????????

Strange, I am using the exact same software and everything is fine here. Make sure you update to the *very latest* version of FF which is actually 10.0.2 and run SUSE's software update manually through YaST and not through KPackagekit. See if there are any updates or fixes you are missing in there and install them and anything it suggests in addition.

I *have* noticed that my Quake engine crashes once in a while, always after I have very quickly clicked on several things in a row from the main QL screen. My theory is that something in Firefox gets confused if you click between items too fast and crashes the engine. Anyway, try what I suggested and see if it helps.

*If it doesn't help,* AND your configurations are altered in any way that you want to save, go to Home>.quakelive>quakelive>home>baseq3 and find the files qzconfig.cfg and repconfig.cfg. Save them to a writable CD or flash drive, etc. Go into Firefox and go to Tools>Add-ons>Extensions and remove the Quake Live Game Launcher. Close Firefox. Go back into your file manager and completely delete the .quakelive folder and in-turn, everything in it.

[If for some reason, Linux doesn't want to let you delete the .quakelive folder, check the permission for it and make sure it is set to "Owner: Can View & Modify Content." Also, to even be able to SEE that folder in the first place, from the Home folder, you may need to go to View>Show Hidden Files.]

Then restart Firefox and go back to QL. It will ask you to reinstall the Game Launcher and game content. Do it. Then, if you chose to save your config files that I mentioned, copy them back into the directory where you saved them from. For the two config files, right click and go to Properties>Permissions and make sure that "Owner" is set to "Can Read & Write." After you have done all of this, try to enter a QL match and see if it works. If it still doesn't, log out of Quake, close Firefox, then start FF, go back to Quake and try again.

If all of that doesn't work, then I am not sure what the problem is. But do let me know if this works and how much of it you had to do to make it work. Peace.

P.S. Another thing that comes to mind because you say it happens in conjunction with the ad is a possible Flash incompatibility which can occur for instance if you are using a 64-bit system with a 32-bit Flash plugin. In the past, I had issues with Flash messing up and crashing because until recently, 64-bit Flash plugins for Linux were poorly implemented and such. So that is one other thing to consider I suppose.
