In game sounds, manageable?
I spent 2 days digging in config, trying to turn off some in game sounds.
InstaFreeze - every time someone melts or being thawed there is short sound announcement. Do you have an idea how to turn it off? Sounds kinda like returning the flag from CTF and is very distracting.
General question is: are we able to manage in game sounds? How deeply? If I remove some sounds from game folder or replace them with silence.mp3 (:]) will it work or crush the game? (The idea has just born, haven't tested yet).

gives you a couple more options to try out.
s_musicvolume "0" - no Music
s_ambient "0" - no atmospheres like wind, background drones, fire..
and the announcer stuff, Yakumo mentioned.
Turning off sounds by changing the .pak-files with files containing silence hopefully leads to a ban.

It wouldn't lead to a ban, it just wouldn't work, the game verifies the pak files and fixes them if they've been altered, making them read only stops them being fixed but then you'll be unable to join servers as they fail the integrity check.
