    Solving the issue of uneven teams resulting in kicking people

    Hi,

    In Clan Arena people are often very mad when someone joins to make teams uneven, and they are also mad when someone disconnects leaving teams uneven. If the last person in the team does not voluntarily go to spectators in such cases, they will be kicked (I don't know if such things happen in other team gametypes honestly, I don't play them).

    The suggestion I have for solving this, is to allow people to vote for moving someone to spectator team instead of kicking them, so they don't have to lose a player after the next person joins, thus making it even again after only one more player comes in instead of two. Also, not making that player mad and frustrated and closing Quake entirely...

    And also, to make it mandatory to vote for people to join in, if the game is in progress. That way a new player cannot join to make an even game uneven. You should, of course, be able to vote for two people at once; either they both join, each in one team (and the shuffling algorithm will determine which player is better for which team so that the balance is also preserved), or neither of them joins.

    Example:

    We started a Clan Arena game, and after 4 minutes, stermy quit. We callvote to move Cooller to spectator team. After 1 more minute, Noctis joins the server, and we callvote to move both Cooller and Noctis into the game.

    Their teams will be chosen either depending on their skill and the game score, or alternatively Cooller might go into the same team he was playing for from the start?

    that is the best idea I have seen on this forum ever(and I have read a fair whack of this forum) all I could suggest if that if a team is left with one less after someone leaves a player on the larger team could be frozen till someone joins the other team.

    Even in the oldest threads you can find "it has been suggested many times".
    What happened in about 7 years? The scarce devs coding resources were spent on creating loadouts, headshots and other stuff nobody asked for. It's a misunderstanding - quake is an unique shooter, it doesn't need half-baked things to mimic other modern shooters. QL has it's own issues (bugs, missing/incomplete features etc.) that should've been addressed.

    Well in that case, at least we have James's Reborn to look forward to.

    It doesn't need a weird vote in/out system.

    All you need is a queue system similar to duel and an auto-balance feature.

    Example:
    A game is 4v4 and one player disconnects, making it 4v3.
    The player on the bottom of the scoreboard for the team with more players is automatically moved to spectate (first in queue).
    Someone else connects and clicks "join match".
    The other player is put back on the team that he was playing with before and the new player replaces the one who disconnected.

    Doubt anything will be done though. Development seems to have pretty much come to a standstill.

    However there is a promising update in the work. It even reduces damage done by steam update - announcer back (and another one new), loadouts "rolled back a bit".

    Yeah, I have read all of that and more on other sites. Now far be it from me to complain, but, if it is true and not just comments taken out of context, couldn't a little official note be posted in these forums. Their are a lot of thirsty players here who might not peruse 7 or 8 gaming sites daily like myself.
    I mean seriously, even a quick "official" note that things are happening behind the scenes would be welcome news at this point.

    After reading syncerror's chat message I'm a little confused. Is this game eventually going to REQUIRE a Steam account to play?

    Not entirely sure but from what I read of all his "chat" it looks like they are concentrating on Steam first.
