    Windows 8.1 - Mouse lag

Anyone else with this problem ? I just updated to Win 8.1 and for some reason my mouse feels laggy.. not sure why.

Quake 3 arena works just fine.

I am using an old Razer Viper

I have mouse lag, but I'm not sure if this because of 8.1.

Had you previously applied any registry tweaks to OS mouse acceleration?
And obviously check all driver settings, and that your in game in_mouse setting is how you expect.

    Edit patch released: http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft...g-while-gaming

Looks like until MS release a patch, if you upgraded to 8.1, you need to play QL with direct input or raw input only, or disable windows scaling on high DPI.

    in_mouse 1 (direct input)
    in_mouse 2 (raw)

EDIT: MS did release a patch for this - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2908279 this patch is unneeded and will not install on windows 8.1.1

So i disabled the scaling for Chrome, which is what i use to play, but it still doesn't feel 100% right.. its just not as "crisp" as before. My Q3A works just fine..

I am getting "read only" for the in_mouse commands ... but it does show as "win32 raw" when i try to change the values.

    it's literally "\in_mouse 2"

if you autocomplete then you'll get in_mousemode which is changed by setting in_mouse. in_mousemode itself is read only.
changing mouse mode does mean you will have to work out a change to \sensitivity to get the same turning circle per mouse movement as before though. as the different modes are affected (or unaffected in the case of raw mode) by other OS and driver settings.
