Yes, it is indeed extremely rude to gib. It is prohibited among the eloquent Quake players.

In CTF if the player you killed has the nuke. It prevents it from going off.

Im sorry but what does it mean to gib "someone"?

As far as I know "gibs" refer to the flesh that explodes from someone upon death.

Fragging someone then going back to shoot them till they explode. Which is nice when you think about it.

It's ok unless players go out of their way - in other words ignore the game's purpose - just to vaporize a gray corpse. I don't think you get any points for it: if they are dead, they are dead. Although now a days that there's a red triangle showing where a teammate was killed, it's a good tactic for the ones who killed him to stay in the vicinity, as teammates of the deceased will now often come running to the spot to see if they can frag anyone who's weak. And then you can get more frags. But few players are smart enough at this point to have figured that one out...

It's also like why do players who killed the enemy flag carrier also fight with other teammates to be the one that returns the flag back to base? As long as it's sent back to safety, who cares? I don't think you get any extra points for doing that one either...

You used to get increased damage for gibs. Not sure if you still do...
