    Rocket jumping script

    Hi,

    The rocket jumping script i've been using for years has suddenly started to be less effective. Instead of doing a max RJ it now does about 1/3 or 1/2 of one. I have not changed anything.

    Here is the script:

    set v_rj "+moveup;+attack;wait;wait;-moveup;wait;-attack;-attack;-attack"

    Does anyone know if ID have changed anything recently?

    this is taken from coollers cfg, maybe it will do what you need

    set uhhh "wait;wait;wait;wait"

    This script is kind of poorly written, two waits is not enough for it to jump and shoot.

    Here is one I made that behaves the same way but actually works:

    set v_rj "+moveup ; wait 3 ; +attack; wait ; -moveup ; -attack"

    bind [key] "vstr v_rj"

    Does anyone know if ID have changed anything recently?
    That would relate to this particular script, nothing that I'm aware of.

    This is even more of a mess.

    freelook doesn't exist, the cvar is cl_freelook.

    freelook doesn't have to be 0 for +lookdown/up to be used.

    This script is intended to have pitchspeed set to a very high value to allow for instant lookdowns. We know that pitchspeed has been locked for quite some time though.

    set isn't needed to change built-in cvars so they can be omitted from within the quotes.

    "uhhh" can be replaced with simply ; wait 4 ;

    what's the point of these scripts? I can do just the same without it i think. Where's the catch?

    It's arguably better to just do RJs manually.

    Some players are really super worried about consistency though, and also if they use a very low sens RJs might be very difficult.

    But your script does not actually "move mouse", it only jumps/shoots. Angle is to be set manually.

    The best reason for a script that I've read and experienced is to account for ping issues. My movement is sub-par to begin with, but found that RJs on higher ping servers were a total mess. In searching for a solution, found the script below that seems to work pretty well. While I used this a lot a while ago, I don't tend to use it now except when needing max height, and so I'm not sure if it's still the best version.

    seta _rocketJ "wait;+moveup;wait;wait;+attack;wait;wait;-attack;-moveup;"

    Yep, sadly I didn't realize that was a silly thing to say until hours later.

    It used to be the case for scripts that did automatic pitch motion.
