    How to... ???

    hello everyone,

    i have a few questions,

    1] can i load QL maps into GTKradiant? and if so, how?
    2] or can i extract the textures and such from a map?

    i have used this tutorial

    but i my command prompt doesnt allow the quakelivedec thing...
    please help? i saw some nice textures in repent and a Quake logo in arcane citadel i would like to use in my map ''penance''

    The tutorial you linked is entirely irrelevant for map making.

    You can decompile and open QL maps in GTKradiant, however you don't have to do that in order to use the textures used in those maps.
    If you got wolfcam and GTKradiant set up you already have access to all the textures via the textures menu in radiant - all you need to do is find the textures you are looking for among all the others which is a bit of a hassle sometimes.

    thx cityy,

    I'm currently trying to make a medieval map called Penance, and i thought some of the things seen in QL are awesome, though i can't seem to find all the textures and things.

    i had asked it once before, and this was the answer i got.

    I will need to ask some more questions, which i think might be usefull, not only for me but for every starting mapper.

    basically everything :P

    i'm also making my own things in photoshop, if i have a transparent .PNG image, will it be a transparent texture? i mean, like in the iron gate that has fallen into the lava. (near the shotgun in FFA - Repent)

    don't rush cityy ;-)
    i'm currently doing a lot of things for inspiration.
    i'm basically making a field full of prefabs now, and building in minecraft to take a brake from things but still be building.

    the shader thing you wrote yesterday, that's why i didnt read it.
