Windows 8 + Intel HD 4000 = 1 fps?
so the title actually says it all. I tried running quake live on my laptop under Windows 8 (x64) in the latest Firefox and I only get 1 fps constantly. Quake 3 runs fine, and other games like Trackmania Nations, too. I've got integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, with a up-to-date driver. Since other games run quite nice, and quake live literally gives me 1 fps, I just think that it's not the weak graphic card's fault.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!
If you only get 1 fps, then your gpu simply isn't used. I've had that problem once and I fixed it by reseting the driver settings.
I've got the same problem. My gfx card works fine with other steam games, so why is quake live not seeing it?
My gfx card is no longer supported by the manufacturer (Radeon HD 4850 x2), I reckon this could be part of the issue, but it used to work.
Frustrating to say the least
Reinstalling, or updating graphics card drivers should fix it. Not sure how QL knows, or does not know what graphics card you have, but reinstalling usually fixes it.
"other steam games" steam is a distribution platform, it doesn't dictate how the games work. most games on Steam are DirectX, Quake uses OpenGL and needs proper drivers not the ones from windows update usually.
