    Cool Wolf Whisperer

Before I start going into what my little creation can do, I think it's important to note that most of the credit must go to Brugal for his immense work in developing WolfcamQL for all of us. It has evolved into a fantastic movie making tool for Quake Live.

However, as most of you are aware, the lack of a GUI made WolfcamQL difficult to pick up for first time users due to the command line interface.

Here is my humble attempt to encourage people who once never dared to even try and create anything like this to give it a go. With this, you can play a demo, record your frag and upload to YouTube before the next round of CA even starts.

As this is practically Version 1.0 please excuse any bugs that you may get. Post them here and I will look into fixing them as fast as I can. Thanks.

    Latest Version - 15th May 2013:
    Wolf Whisperer 1.3.9.11 Full - 120MB
    Wolf Whisperer 1.3.9.11 Upgrade - 1MB

Introduction to what Wolf Whisperer is:
Wolf Whisperer is a Graphical User Interface that works in conjunction with WolfcamQL to play, record, organize, and encode Quake Live demos. It’s used somewhat like a media player with options to Pause/Rewind/FF demos as they play.

The GUI will make life a lot easier as you don’t need to learn any commands. Easily jump to any time on the game clock, cycle through frags and record high quality video or encode for YouTube. It comes packaged with the latest version of WolfcamQL and includes over 100MB of high quality textures and weapon models.

A new concept is also being introduced called Voice Over Demos. A Quake Live demo with an Mp3 backing track combined into one vod file. Watch top quality games with the best quality graphics that only a demo can provide with synced commentary. They are fully customizable so you can create your own, or edit one to add your own cast or music if you so wish.

A higher emphasis will be put on documentation and tutorials to get more people making videos much more quickly and far more efficiently. Create professional cinematography sequences with easy to use camera tools. The only thing you need is a working installation of Quake Live and some Demos for you to explore.

    Changelog 1.3.9.11:

    * Fixed sound crackling through the speakers soon after a video has been recorded.
    * Fixed the 0.2 second sound delay in recorded videos.

    Changelog 1.2.9.11:

    * Fixed StartupWizard looping over and over again.
    * Reduced the prerequisite number of pk3 files needed even further to the absolute bare minimum for WolfcamQL to work (All the pak files)
    * New warning message to suggest that even though WolfcamQL will function, you are still running low on maps.
    * New 'Sync PK3s' button in Help section to update Wolf Whisperer with new QL content.
    * Fixed VODs not playing when launched from 'My Vods'/Explorer while WolfcamQL is down.
    * Fixed bug where the commentary would continue to play in a VOD even after closing WolfcamQL.
    * Fixed bug where Right Click > Explore Folder would return an error if no videos folder existed.
    * Timescale 100 now works.
    * Fixed bug where the crosshair displays wrong default crosshair on startup in the GUI.

    Changelog 1.1.9.11:

    * Changed default installation directory to prevent permission issues with file creations in ‘Program Files’ folder.
    * Works with Windows XP 64 bit.
    * Fixed PK3 check for non-premium users who have no premium maps installed.

I don't know why I didn't see this before, but you've seriously saved me countless hours of setting up etc... This is awesome! I just wish I would have seen this a few days ago before I've spent so many hours already trying to get setup.

    Can't thank you enough!

This FANTASTIC, nothing less than a revolution for me

The fragscanner, just gold. Easy billboard replacement, fragmessage menu....

I now have a config that im quite happy with, but the 25 and 50 health bubbles are black. I don't know where to get these textures from, any help?

I see this as a pretty significant shake-up of quake movie making, perhaps as important as the transition from q3mme to wolfcam...

I have a lot of comments, but I basically feel that the idea of improving the interface of wolfcam is a good thing, and allowing easier visual customization is as well.

    Positives:
Demo organization is a good concept
Prevents user from continually having to close/open wolfcam to adjust settings (to an extent)
The F2 pointer unlock is an amazing addition, not sure if that was around before
cvar list with explanations (great to be able to have open while using wolfcam)

    Negatives/Suggestions:
Wolfcam needed an interface improvement, but this has actually further complicated the interface. Most of the buttons simply execute commands (though the demo scrubbing tool is a bit more complicated), and hence serious users will always find it simpler to type "/fastforward 5" rather than drag the pointer forwards a bit.

Perhaps the cvar list could also feature another parameter, so "cvar", "Value" and "Explanation" - otherwise this is just another floating cluttery box. Most of the camera related explanations are already accessible by typing "ecam".

Wolf Whisperer appears to override all textures etc - yes the benefit is that beginners can customize things very easily (textures, models, skins, sprites), but all the custom pk3's I have in baseq3 don't work anymore, the things they're overwriting are being overwritten! It adds another layer of complexity in a way.

The majority of the buttons on the interface will be used once only, for example billboards. Once used that button is essentially wasting space. The interface is very cluttered in my opinion, and is not well integrated with wolfcam at all.

I suppose things will be added update by update, but the options list should, in my opinion, be a lot more complete or loses it's value. Some things can be done via WolfWhisperer options, other's can't (e.g. frag sound - Where is it!?)

I'm very excited about this release but feel it needs to be better integrated with wolfcam, or users will use wolfwhisperer for the initial visual customization and then never again...it's nicer to be using one screen not 3 boxes that are floating around (and on my moniter when wolfcam is open the rest of the screen becomes brighter, though I think this can be fixed?).

Is it at all possible you could talk with brugal and put these features into wolfcam itself? This would mean a more seamless interface, simpler to use and only one installation (beginners have enough trouble installing wolfcam once). Great job though, I'm sure I'll think of more comments as I go along. I see this as the future of wolfcam and am going to use it in my upcoming movie. Keep it up!

It wasn't my project or anything -- I just recommended a Sticky because it's a good program

Here is a video created using this software. I created it in much quicker speed than using binds, the interface is awesome! Please note this was just a quick test for me to learn how to use the program. I plan to make more movies thanks to Mango!
