Just wanted to add I've never noticed much of a difference with this set to 0 or 1; Tai usually pings relatively well so I doubt this is going to help him/her a lot.

I recently switched back from 0 to 1 and honestly haven't seen anything change as far as rail - although as Flanger already noted, you probably wont see much difference (if any) if you always have ping 50 or less.

ID has changed something. Like I said before, it started when they rotated the maps last time. What I see on my screen is not what is really happening on the server. People rail me before they appear on my screen. I get railed when I'm in cover. Enemy model jerk around the map as the game tries to predict where they are going - and I turned nudge off. In every game there is at least one or two warpers. People timing out during map change. Lag spikes. What have you done?

My playtime is now reduced from 2-3 hours a day to 2-3 hours a week. You have successfully turned my favorite game into a steaming pile of unplayable garbage. I joined in 2009. Supported this game with twice the premium sub, now with pro sub. Today I canceled my renewal.

    GG.

Should start a clan called The Tinfoil Hat Division.

When i had crappy dsl (and i mean crap pings that would sit at 999 on the netgraph) I'd skip my way across giant battles and no one could hit me. Even when my dsl was at it's best i'd be described as a warp hero. Needless to say people would complain about "thru shots" and "fix you connection" every second i played. I stopped playing for awhile until recently. Switched my ISP and landed the one at the same price at x5 times the mbps.

Now everything is fine on my end of signals but I am seeing things from the other perspective. I get to experience missing shot after shot while Mr anonymous warpskys escapes unscathed. Thankfully most people have a decent connection.

The problems you describe are typical for high latency. Are you sure your ping hasn't gone up? I also get railed sometimes behind walls, it's about latency, I've already got used to. As for jerking are you sure you don't have cl_autotimenudge set to 1? autotimenudge will override current cl_timenudge values and if needed (i.e. ping is higher) will go for further negative values. It may present some twitching on enemy models. Nevertheless I find it better (especially for rockets), than standard timenudge -20.

By the way, do not trust ping counters on scoreboard. If you really want to see what's going on between you and server, use lagometer.

I usually don't get "through the wall" shots until my ping gets over 60 ms. I stay away from those servers. I play on IL, Toronto, VA, sometimes DC (45-50 ms). I get less then 30 ms on all those servers. I do play on TX when there's no other server up and get around 60-80ms.
And I have advanced Lag-O-Meter always on.

However I have to say, what is up with VA? Get 30 ms ping, yet I get more through shots on that server then any other server, even TX.

The internet I play on has a direct connection to LEVEL3 in Detroit, so it's not a residential DSL/Cable service, it's 100Mbit Fiber.
For example, tracert from my computer to google.com results in 8 hops.

And apparently I get 12 hops to Chicago server (199.21.113.50).

I'm not sure if your post is to illustrate the # of hops but regardless, the ping looks more than adequate :s

    ~edit~

For what it's worth, since I saw you noted exceptional issues @ Va, I prefer that location above all and ping about the same as you (30's).

So it's weird you believe you have more issues there than Txs...
