    Thumbs up practice bots

    Is there any way a dev can take 30 minutes of their day to make bots that switch weapons? at least switch on empty... at the moment the most difficult bots are pretty bad, maybe a slight dodge script and a few weapon changes

    just asking

    We all know how realistic those green robots are

    I'm not actually sure how the bots are coded, but it seems like it would be plausible to just have them get an order with a preference of their 'favorite' weapons and then have them switch as they run out of ammo from the earlier weapons. Teaching the bots which weapon is best in each situation would probably be impossible though as that's more of a learned thing.

    Here is a thread (from Oct. 2012) you may find interesting (about practicing with the bots).
    This is also where you can read about (and download) Ketnar's -SuperBot-.

    I'd also like implementation of switch on empty. I've made a custom bot which uses LG when in range, then rail when out of range. It's decently challenging...until it runs out of ammo.

    Bots already do this

    Code:
    //initial weapon weights
    #define W_SHOTGUN				50
    #define W_MACHINEGUN				70
    #define W_GRENADELAUNCHER			40
    #define W_ROCKETLAUNCHER			120
    #define W_RAILGUN				185
    #define W_BFG10K				30
    #define W_LIGHTNING				50
    #define W_PLASMAGUN				50

    //the bot has the weapons, so the weights change a little bit
    #define GWW_SHOTGUN				35
    #define GWW_MACHINEGUN				50
    #define GWW_GRENADELAUNCHER			30
    #define GWW_ROCKETLAUNCHER			90
    #define GWW_RAILGUN				125
    #define GWW_BFG10K				41
    #define GWW_LIGHTNING				40
    #define GWW_PLASMAGUN				40
