Qcon2004 - was Quake 4 there at all?

I'm in the midst of an argument with a guy claiming quite profoundly how he played fatal1ty at Qcon2004 in a shootout and beat him, in quake 4. (although I ALSO doubt fatal1ty would have bothered to do a shootout when he was competing at qcon2004 as well [Doom 3 deathmatch champion])

But, by all accounts I can remember, quake 4 was revealed at Qcon 2005!?

    Yet he persistently claims this.

    Confused. Any help appreciated. Thx

Others viewing our discussion have offered the possibility that there was no media coverage of quake 4 due to NDA ? I doubt it though!

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QuakeCon#2004 Quake 4 wasn't in Quakecon until 2006.

That link you posted shows it being revealed in 2005 like my OP says:

Highlights: Another large event which saw the unveiling of Quake 4 multiplayer. Aaron Ferguson's first complete year as Executive Director.

When Quake 4 was being presented at Quakecon, fatal1ty was on hand and you could play him. Many, many people played him. I know, as I was there. As to what year that was, that I cannot exactly remember.
