I've been playing Quake for about 10 months and when I first started I found ca so hard I couldn't play it.
Played lots of ffa and tdm since then and gone back to ca.
I'm actually enjoying my ca now and I'm not doing too bad for me.
After playing quite a bit of ca, then switching back to ffa or tdm, I have found my movement and aim alot better - ca isnt just rocket jumping all over the place and spamming, its very good to help you learn the right weapon at the right time, movement and map knowledge.

That pretty much described CA exactly (even though you said it isn't). While some people disagree that it's not a spam-heavy gametype, if you tend to look at the averages accuracies of a CA player and then compare their accuracies in a different gametype, you'll usually see an increase in the other gametype. (Since FlashSoul will say I need a source, I'll use myself :P)

I have about 1900 CA games played. My overall accuracy from playing them was around 13-16%. I stopped playing CA once I realized how horrible it was for improving at this game, and I've since played probably around 1000 CTF games (I have about 1500 CTF overall currently). I haven't been playing CA at all other than the occasional game on an alias (and I usually leave the game before it's over from boredom), and my accuracy now has been rising steadily. (It's currently at 20.26%, but if I added another few years of playing at the exact same level I'm at currently, my accuracy would probably be closer to stopping at around 28%. This is a 10% increase for me just from playing CTF instead of CA. (I'm not even a heavy spam player in CA either compared to others; I just tend to have horrible accuracy in CA)

Pika, as much as i respect you i think youre wronk!

you see a lot of spam indeed but only because no one understands teamwork or how to use the right weapons.

no one actually answered to me when i claimed the machine gun is the best weapon when you reach a +5 team.

if you dont understand why its the best weapon for Ca. then dont judge this game mode.

Definately not a ca expert since I'm barely T4 with relatively few games played, but, I've noticed that really good ca players have decent rg and lg accs with lower gl, rl and pg accs. I'm comparing that to my ffa accs. Most decent ffa players will have 50%+ rl, while ca players seem to be in the 35-45% range. No dougbt 30-40 rocket jumps per match has something to do with that.
    Sometimes I wonder...
"Why is that frisbee getting bigger?"
    Then it hits me.

    1) You never mentioned mg at all in this thread.
    2) You're completely agreeing with me in that people are spamming (Which would lead to lower accuracies)

FFA is also a more spam-friendly mode because there are more people to hit, but the accuracies tend to be higher than CA simply because of that reason. The odds are higher that you'll hit one of the 2 people with a spammed grenade than against a single person.

Which then agrees exactly with what I said. The accuracies *will* be lower. (At least for RL). Oftentimes I see the weapon accuracies lower in CA as well because for example, in CTF, a player with the flag will shoot at somebody and then continue running. They're not going to stop and continue fighting if they're actually trying to play the objective. In Clan Arena, because you're given a fair amount of ammo, people tend to continue to (for example, again) hold down lg instead of releasing it, in hopes that a player will pop back out and they'll get a bit more damage on a person.

Again, it's not *always* the case, but the majority of the players will probably agree that CA players would have better overall accuracies (per main weapons) in a non-CA gametype (Provided they play the objective correctly)

It wasn't in this thread, so we wouldn't be aware of it unless we were deliberately on the topic of it. (If you'd linked it you could've been fine :P)
