My first game was Heretic. My first game where I tried to play competitively - Unreal Tournament, God remembers where.

Why CTF4 is bad
Back when Heat.Net was popular Gamespy, mplayer, and a setup called Won were also running Quake AND Quake2 and a few other shooters, if I remember correctly Half life's internal game servers always seemed to have really high ping for me and I never got into it much but that whole series was extremely popular
First on-line game i tried was the original Unreal, which was a singleplayer game but had coop and basic but fun DM, then i moved to Unreal Tournament, used to play a lot on Unreal Playground CTF servers, ill never forget those days...
Quake 1!
For some reason I assumed that I was the best on the planet when I first played it. It was quite a shock to find that I was infinitely closer to being the worst!
