mouse is going straight up or down and doing 360's when i try and move it.

My mouse is acting all loony. just started today. as soon as i try and move my mouse the view goes straight up or down and starts doing 360's very fast. Im not sure what caused it. or even how to fix it. any help would be great. thx.
