Awful background noise at start of every new game [ubuntu 12.10 64bit; pulseaudio]

    http://www.mediafire.com/?i6jlbjm4l85w7e9

Every time I start a new game or load a new map I get heavy noise. It's very distracting. This might be called "initial synchronization bug".

edit, there is one error message related to sound shown in console:
    Code:
    idAudioHardwareALSA::GetDMAPos: sound buffer underrun

have you tried snd_restart (console command)?

It should be a quick fix.

    Yes, doesn't help at all.

    edit:

    Code:
    seta s_driver "alsa"
    and then doing
    Code:
    snd_restart
fixes annoying sound artifacts until the next map loads, then I have to do
    Code:
    snd_restart
    again

    other sound settings I have
    Code:
    s_alsa_latency "80"
    s_mixahead "0.140"
