I want to see how my friend, who is new to quake, is playing. But i get this message and i can't join to server.
My suggestion is to let players to come on server, where is your friend playing. And not let to play with them.

I agree. We should be able to join lower tier servers as spectators. However, this also brings in the issue of high tier player joining the low tier just to laugh at them, call them names etc etc.... Jerks can be found anywhere.

So, let us spec but disable chatting?

I would also like higher-tiered players to be able to join as spectators only .
