Happy for Chicago, it seems your requests are heard by ID stuff, Argentina servers on the other hand are still down and now support doesn't even answer my requests. We are a big community in Argentina and we are getting no support nor answer from ID.
info is on the argentinian QL fb group. In short, most probably they aren't coming back as it seems nrg (argentinian sever provider) will stop doing it for free, it's very costly to host official servers (thousands of dollars a year; separate from QL subscriptions) and there's no one willing to do all the effort required. In the end right now it depends on someone pulling some strings off in order to get free servers, whether back on nrg or somewhere else.
can play on chilean servers as long as they are still up. Starting next month those are going to be on the same situation, though they were funding their servers for like 3 years before that (same thousands and effort) so who knows if they will be willing to do so once again. Based on people retiring both from the game and from the staff/admins, my guess is they won't pay anymore so it's either getting another free host or it's finally over here.
edit: and since those are the only southamerican servers it's safe to say quake will die here (unless the world ends first). We all know quake3 and others are not a good alternative playerbase wise because it will decrease to 25% immediately.
Or BRs (huehuehueh) could finally work on getting their official servers. As I wrote that depends 100% on them doing all what's needed, and when all preparations are met then id software comes and does 1% the effort. It isn't the other way around so complaining does nothing.
