I don't have much space and aren't thinner mousepads better?
The difference in quality between a regular qck and a mass/heavy is huge and the price difference is nothing really.
Do the measuring (I think the mass is around 30cm), but I'm telling you buying a small pad is useless so don't go for anything less than the mass' size.

Is the performance and smoothness identical?Looking at specs the mass isnt much bigger but i like the thickness of it because were i would place itis uneven.

Well, if you really want a QcK then it's still better than no pad, though I will say you won't know what you're missing out on.
You've mentioned you have very little space to work with. I strongly suggest you try to fix that, since it is a big problem. I had the same space issues a couple of years back. I fixed it by getting a new desk with more room.
9 is quite a big number tbh, I'm curious about the resolution you are using ingame.
- Are you using raw mouse input in Quakelive?
- What is the exact model of the mouse and what is the Hz your USB port running at? (asking because some mice only performs good with certain DPI and/or with a certain usb polling speed and/or on a certain surface/pad, so it's not irrelevant what you buy or if it would worth it or not)
1200 DPI. Not sure about other things.
Mice usually have stickers at the bottom around the sensor, stating the exact model number and the manufacturer. There are lot of optical mice out there with 1200Hz capabilities, need more info
