    How do I teach Noobs?

Hello. Weekly I have a LAN party with some of my friends. it is very boring because most of them are very bad. maybe 2 of them would be considered tier 2, but that is the extent of their skills. it would be much better if i could teach them to play better, but when i try, they say "thats gay, why are you gonna do that?" one of them actually said i was being an ass because we were dueling and i was picking up all the armor. i mean really? i really need some tips please.

People that don't want to get good simply won't get good. It's hopeless. Sorry.

Show them some YouTube vids of pros duelling, ideally on frag heavy maps like Hektik. If that doesn't inspire them then you're stuffed gl.

QL is not a good lanparty game anyway. If you still want to play some oldschool fast paced fps what you should play is serious sam second encounter coop.

I actually think you are the one at fault OP. They came to play a fun game they could pick up and where they'd have a chance, not something that required many hours of practice and application to even play CA or FFA nevermind duel. I mean really?

I suggest you play a different game or you'll find yourself playing single player at your LAN parties. I don't know how you ever thought that this could go well.
Aways ensure you are maintaining a high FPS rate in QL. Otherwise you can be at a big disadvantage. To find out your current fps rate, use the command: "set cg_drawfps "1"".

No no no, you misunderstood. I'm not having them play quake live, I'm having them play q3 before they play quake live. Are you people nuts? If I started them on straight QL then they'd never play quake again. I mean, it's even worse now since people start at T3. My god, they'd be ripped apart!

your friends are right, you're an idiot if you play full throttle vs people who cannot play, maybe try winning without grabbing an armor.

    you seem like a sissy.

Perhaps try playing with a handicap of 50 or something to make it easier for them.

It'll be boring for both sides. Just play serious sam and have fun, plus there are plenty other great games for lanparties (google) both for PC and for consoles (connected or not).
