update your gpu drivers, some older gpus dont work correctly in windows 8 due to new features that older gpus dont/cant support. ie ati cards that are not 5000+ not sure which nvidia cards have issues

I have an NVIDIA GE Force GT 520M. You reckon I should not upgrade?
    Let me know. Thanks!

Try running QL in Mozilla Firefox when using Windows 8. This worked for me.

Internet Explorer: Can't install Plugin (Perhaps a Java-Issue??)
Opera: Crashes when selecting fullscreen (Perhaps a Java-Issue??)
    Firefox: Works

So I now have Firefox installed in order to play QL

Hope this helps for you aswell!

QL works perfectly for me in win8 in chrome/firefox, I haven't tested IE but know it can't work in metro IE as that doesn't support plugins.

The nvidia drivers that windows update automatically installs (currently 306.97) work perfectly on my 460 gtx, they give full openGL support. they are the same drivers that you get if you go to the nvidia driver website and select the current WHQL build.

As for ATI I don't know I don't have any ATI gear to test, sorry.

You could also try with QLPrism - works like a charm for me now.
In the past I had many connection problems (ql would disconnect mid-game, and had to do a net_restart to solve it), but it seems that bug has been solved now
