ID software - Wake up!
after all the complaints on the forums and the empty servers is ID software doing anything to fix the situation?
I've been a premium player since the premium became available just cause i wanted to support the game and its creators. I was happy with just the basic standard maps and I was never playing premium maps since at the servers I usually play on (DE, UK), all premium games are always empty. In the past couple of weeks I played 20-30 CA games and 90% were either overkill or campgrounds - there is simply no choice anymore - the game ends, the same 3 maps show up for voting.
I've seen numerous suggestions on how to fix the voting system, make the game better, and more profitable but it seems like ID software keeps experimenting and everytime with worse than before 'solutions' which end up causing more anger and frustration.
My subscription expired earlier this month and thankfully didn't autorenew cause the credit card they have on record expiration date passed. I am not planning to pay again even though I was following this game and been a paying customer since Quake 1, unless there is some response from ID telling all the people complaining here that at least something is being done about it. We don't need to hear what the solution is, we just need to hear that someone is listening to us!

The problem with repetitive maps happen only for custom spawned servers. On my server usually only dm6 is played. The deciding thing why this server is populated is, because it offers unlimited dm6 experience. On the other hand, standard servers have all the maps in cycle and three previous maps don't show up in next vote.
I also play on DE servers, and every day in the evenings I see at least 15 servers and most of them are full. Don't know about UK servers though, I filter everything except DE.
I think risen popularity of custom spawn servers (apart from vote possibility and preferred maps played over and over) are due to better game control from host. If host is a decent player and person, he/she will shuffle teams (even manually if needed) to maintain balance, let midgame vote to kick "999"-er or one who just wants to spoil the game, etc.
