Sampler Matches Updated - Red Rover
The Sampler Matches have been updated, now running Red Rover on Cold War.
Red Rover is a mix between Clan Arena and Free For All. When you frag a player on the opposing team, they switch to your team and help you hunt down the remaining enemies. The round ends when all players are on the same team. You gain one point for every player you frag, and lose one point for every time you die. The player with the highest score at the end of 10 rounds of play is the winner!
As always, the Sampler servers are available in limited capacity, so look for matches named "Red Rover Sampler" and enjoy!
Choice of map is terrible :-(
I really enjoy running around rocket jumping on this map, especially with all the vertical elements.
The map is well suited for this number of players, I enjoy it.
Last game we even had a sudden death round! (Because of me and one other guy had the same score after 10 rounds.) Too bad I won it just by hiding after the other guy died :)
It's a good sized map for 12+ people, but for <8 it's very empty.
I also question maps with voids on them for RR. Suicide is a tactical option for some instead of chasing the last guy on the other team, they just an hero in the void for a fresh team of victims. I personally would like to see this treated differently somehow, or to play on a map with no void.
No idea where you find those servers, but where I play, respawning against a team of 14 means inevitable death. That's -2 points (suicide and another death) with only a slight chance of killing anyone before getting between 3 others (in which case it doesn't matter if they're tier 3). Better to hide somewhere and camp with railgun if you're low.

Suiciding happens all the time on the NA (TX) sampler server. Saw this in the couple matches I played today and also in the last round when it was on Demonkeep (with lava).
The problem is that in a full match in NA, there are fewer than 5 Tier 4 players that are any threat to killing anyone. So those better players have a good chance of getting -1, spawn stacked, and then go +3 or +4 before swinging the balance of teams the other way again. Even with suicides, they end up in the top few of the score with +20 or better net.
Can sampler games be run on other servers? The TX servers lag.
map is fun, lots of situations to deal with. one thing tho, i dont understand the system of when the match is over.. earlier i had a game going 30+ minutes with almost 100 frags. the people competing for top eventually quit for whatever reason.. why cant there be a time limit like 20 minutes max. most games end around 15 minutes but sometime it drags out.
There is a round limit of 10 rounds. It all depends on how fast the rounds pass.

I've checked your 31,5 minute match and indeed it finished with roundlimit (team score was 6:4 for red :)).
I've seen score limit being set to 150 too, but can't imagine anyone hitting that.
