Screen Size

I just spent, like, an HOUR trying to fix this. I went into Control Panel > Display > Change Display Settings. It said that 1920X1080 was reccomended, so I tried that in fullscreen, but I'mm still missing a good chunk of the bottom and right side og the screen, where it shows the weapons and players at the start of the game... Can anybody fix this for me?! I will provide any further information, given you ask.

open the console and type

r_mode -2

This should set the game to match your desktop resolution.

Thank you, but how do I open the console? I play TF2 and the grave key is used to open the console there, is it the same case here?

EDIT: Scratch that, found out how to use the console, but the command didn't work? Should it take effect the next time you start up the game?

It is the same... but you know how you have to tick 'Allow dev console' in source games, you have to do similar for QL:

To open the console at first, use CTRL+ALT+`

If you then type 'com_allowconsole 1' it shortens it to just needing ` on its own...

How are you finding time to play Quake with the new MVM update in TF2 - it's sucking up all my gaming time for now xD

Well, I tried Scout and Heavy. Heavy was the easier of the two in my opinion, honestly. So many bullets... O.O

EDIT: Oh, HOW? I thought you meant how I liked it. Well, I've wanted to play with my brother and a friend, but insane wait times, and I usually get booted out after I connect. But I don't have any money so I can't get the Tour of Duty tickets... Q.Q

EDIT2: Oh, I had it to play on browser becauise I may or may not have tried to make the game MUCH larger than the screen and tried the command, and it worked this time. Thanks.

Oh, I didn't do vid_restart. What does that do? Just restart the game, or something else?

EDIT: I see what it does. I think the problem is that r_mode -2 still has the screen too large.

It's probably a problem of your screen vs some virtual desktop resolution. Double-check all your display settings.

Don't use the connect to co-op match, use the normal server browser and set 'mvm' as the map name, then join any games with 5 players (or 4 if your brother is joining also)... no wait times and no payment All classes have a role tbh I have just managed to get the achievement for completing a round with each class now though pyro, soldier and scout were the most fun imo.

Back to Quake - vid_restart just restarts the rendering of the game, so reloads all the visual/video stuff, there's also a snd_restart function for sound (maybe some others I'm unaware of). Not sure if you're using the -2 or -1 setting, double check with -1 followed by the vid_restart and see where that gets you. Also like Lam says check your display settings in windows and check the posts he referenced.

Also bear with the issues, the game is worth it
