    For Idsoftware to use a competing company's engine for one of their own games would be bad PR and probably even completely unnecessary.

    If you find such a discrepancy, _demo_ it. That will prove that it happened and a bug fix can be worked on. Personal testimony is not good evidence, especially when it is so contrary to what other people experience.

    And I have even myself (sometimes and rarely) killed full health players by single shots.
    Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

    Seriously there have been maybe a handful of players who think this happens, but I can't recall a single case where it's been verified - there are a variety of reasons that the damage may not match what the player thinks it should:

    - Multiple damage sources occuring at the same time (grenades or an extra player dealing damage from elsewhere), I've seen players killed in .1s in CA because they got hit by a number of simultaneous rails/rockets
    - Better/worse aim than expected from either player involved
    - Player misses a mid-battle health pickup
    - Player wasn't aware of the starting stack of his opponent (a big armor stack with lowish health but the ability to back onto a 50hp bubble can really mess with your idea of how healthy a player is - can be used to bait players in high level duel)
    - Railthroughs because of high ping

    I think the only verified damage bug was air rockets incorrectly dealing splash instead of direct damage, but that was patched iirc.

    Unfortunately there have been cases of selective editing to omit factors which a good player can use for information, mostly sound cues which can be heard easily in replays... demo's are the best for proof of things like this.

    Anyway, as Lorfa and Muff have said, rewriting the whole game to run on a competitors engine is a ridiculous idea.

    Well at least Source is based upon original id coding, so it'd be less of a mountain to climb... although 75% of it was rewritten by Valve so...maybe not.

    id never buyed any engines and never will. They have cool developers but sometimes I think QL is supported by a special group of developers which are not really allowed to change/replace game engine in any better way. Lot of years had passed and I can't beleive that ragdoll physics can't be improved in QL engine, just to make it little more modern.

    Nevermind I got some Infractions Well, I'm not going to act bad in future I think. It's great when this forum is actually read by somebody who is not indifferent to Quake Live site, game and community.

    haven't u seen the complaints about bugs !

    Yes - and it get suspicious when it sometimes are top-ranked players that are die-hard. Do top-ranks get slightly "more" health, as part of their rank.

    cogeek - I'm not against You don't like my suggestion - or whatever You think.

    But I don't like that You want to remove others thoughts and ideas just because You either don't like it or don't understand it.

    And please don't begin to go personal but for the topic. You haven't said anything factual yet.

    btw: Maybe QL is allready running with another engine - we just don't know - lol (don't tell the others - it's an embarresing secret)

    QL has been and always will be running on the id Tech 3 engine. You don't just switch engines and rewrite everything from scratch 3 years after the game has been released, at that point it would be a whole new product entirely.
