business model - monthly gaming subscriptions going extinct in MMO's

Monthly subscription fees almost all eliminated in the MMO gaming business model.

Sort of QuakeLive related - as in the topic of subscriptions and all that goes with that.

A good read - for those interested in gaming business models.

Well i dont think p2p is going anywhere. Its jsut games that fail to deliver what they promised are forced to go f2p when their paying customers stop paying for service they're not getting. There are ppl who want everything for free and then thee are ppl who value quality of product and service and rather pay to get service that play free and not get service. Atm it really seems like gaming comppanys dont give a ***** about their customers, giving them updates that players dont like and generally jsut giving 0 support. So of course theyre forced to go f2p with item shops and then they can jsut say against every comlains "this is free to play". In p2p players actually can and will demand service since theŭre paying monthly fees.

Markets for p2p are still there. In past there wasnt that big comnpetition in mmos so publishers pretty much were able to collect their money with out worrying about giving service. Ppl where jsut happy htye were able to play in internet. now that competition is bigger and people are used to play games online they start to demand more and publlishers jsut dont want to adapt to the situation.
