    the movement is too silly for new players wandering in from other games.

    it's too hard for new players to find good games

    it's too hard for old players to find good games

    ping matters too much. 1 community with 900 players will always be better than 3 communities with 300 players.
    Instead of 3 empty CTF servers, there should be 1 or 2 populated ones.
    Instead of 3 servers with too few newbs or too few experts, there should be 1 or 2 servers with all the newbs or all the experts

    They could even organize matches by time. Instead of everyone logging in at random times, they should come when there's a game. Like TDM could be active 1 day of the week instead of being dead 7 days a week.

    they probably should have some real communication for teamgames... the game is designed to be played with voicechat and everyone communicating efficiently. that doesn't happen in random games. outside of tournament play, the communication should even be automatic...
    this whole idea that I should have to bind things and press keys to notify snippets of info is archaic.

    and yes the weapons are nowhere close to balanced, but it kind of makes them worth going for which is part of the game. they could probably tweak the ammo or the positioning a bit on some maps.

    yes i get pissed going into a game that says it isnt full taking 5 minutes for advertising and for the load reload load reload load reload only to find areana overload or get in to find some one that has been dominating the game for hours and hours with low ping and some kind of god mode ability ( I cant even get my gun pointed at them because of some invisible force that wont let me turn the gun completely on them). In practice no problem when the server isn't crashing (a lot expecially trying to play nightmare or more than 8 players) 50% accuracy I can get in a competetion game I can fall to 9% sometimes> Very frustrating and very unreliable results with certain players dominating and bullying the noobs

    the rocket launcher is way overpowered compared to lightning gun, thats just how it is

    Average rockets > excellent lg in the vast majority of cases I'm afraid.
    As I've moaned for years it the lack of lg push that does it, people can just come straight forward spamming rockets and lg cant stop them, same problem with plasma.

    Weapon balance in QL is almost perfect (the LG vs RL arguments are old and have been settled). The movement is superb. There's a wide variety of game modes, catering to all tastes. However it takes some time to learn the skills to appreciate all these points.

    Newbs being placed in T3 is the problem as is the ease of making alt accounts.

    I think lack of an acceptable singleplayer mode is important. When i started with Q3 i played alot of singleplayer. Playing bots for a while, then practicing strafjumping and other stuff for a while. Learning the basic mechanics of the game like strafejumping took me a long time. Just jumping in on a server and learning that stuff while playing wasn't an option.

    An example: on lostworld, the mega location. With Q3 you had to have 125 fps (63 on localhost) to even make that little jump up to it. I spent hours upon hours learning how to tweak my cfg to get better fps. There was alot of factfinding to be done - even money spent on upgrading. It seems to me that ppl don't want to do that kind of work to be able to play a game, which is understandable. The game is simply put to hard to learn from scratch.

    i'd like to add to this, yesterday after subscribing, i hosted a prem ctf server which.. u wont believe it.. ran with a full-house from 8pm until in the early morning hours - mainly prem is filled with veterans, so its really hard to cater new players onto such servers as most are experienced players and will outgun/outsmart anyone who is fairly new to the game.
    especially now they are limited too with their free content, to learn more to get more advanced.

    just some thoughts on this whole - quake popularity thing.

    btw.. people who spawn pro servers on public aren't really making the hindrance of limited content better imo, they should just spawn prem all the way - wheres the spawn clan ? i thought they do charity? haven't really seen more than one PREM CTF server since this whole thing started from them.. all talk, take action please and make prem worthwhile.
