    Strogg Invasion Mode

I have an idea for a co-op game mode for Quake Live. It's called Strogg Invasion, and it's similar to the Invasion mode found in UT2004. The main difference, however, is that players will work together to fight against legions of Strogg troopers. (The Stroggs would be from Quake II, but remade for the Quake III Engine.)

After every four waves, there will be a boss battle against a Strogg superboss that can sustain fire from multiple enemies at once. (Let's use the Makron as an example) The boss will appear a few seconds after the fifth wave starts, attacking and wreaking havoc with the rest of the Strogg forces.

After the boss fight is over, the next set of four waves will consist of stronger enemies. The game will last for a total of fifteen to twenty waves of increasing difficulty. (Twelve to sixteen standard waves, three to four boss battles.) After the final boss is defeated, the match will be over.

Well, that's all I've got so far. Feel free to comment and toss in some ideas of your own.

Oh, btw. There would be a special set of maps for this gametype. Most of them would be pretty large-scale, and almost all of them would have to be wide-open and vast. (Trust me, crowded, deathmatch-style arenas would NOT work for this gametype.

that is a cool idea, but what if you do infinite waves of monsters, to make a high score. And it would be cool to play until 4 players in the team, that would be more fun

Yes, that's wonderful. An arcade-style Invasion mode! Good idea.

Also, I was thinking that there could be two types of Invasion gametypes instead of one. One could be based on the Strogg enemies from Quake II and Quake 4, and the other could be based around the ancient gothic monsters from Quake I.

Good idea but is highly unlikely to happen since it would require a lot of work to implement - everything from coding, sound mastering and modelling to mapping. On the plus side it would be a great way to introduce people to the game, but even so it wouldn't work since it would be premium and thus inaccessible to newcomers. Also, it works well with even 2 players and is a nice casual alternative to the other, way-too-goddamn-serious gametypes.

True. Serious Sam is a nice alternative, but it'd still be nice to see Quake Live include an actual co-op mode for once. If you notice, there is a distinct lack of those in this game.

If an idea has enough of a following, then there's no telling what'll happen. UT3 didn't even HAVE Invasion as a standard game mode, but people took it into their own hands to turn Invasion for UT3 into reality. Now look what we have: RBTT Invasion, Galtanor's Invasion, and my personal favorite, Death Warrant: Monster Mash III. There's no limit to what's possible if the community gets behind something.
