The only statement we have about sales is direct from Sync_Error via IRC (already posted elsewhere, might link later)
    - if you check http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/quakelive.com and go to traffic stats -> reach percentage

Then the site has had more traffic since the update than it did before. It's also busier over 3 and 6 month splits. So all this chat about people leaving in droves is laughable. Although it doesn't differentiate between forum and game traffic...

Blind and intentionally stupid to not see it. Certain times of day used to be packed, with several servers jam packed. Compared to then it's a ghost town now. The elitists don't want to admit that they BLEW IT. They won't back down. They'll destroy quakelive before they admit they made a mistake.

OP makes a great suggestion and compromise which keeps half of the changes and gives back half. Funny how the first two posts were closed minded parrots of those in charge, who didn't even have the manhood to articulate a RESPONSE to the specifics in the opening post. How typical.
Maybe if the OP had chosen to just post his compromise proposal and let it stand on it's own merits, people would take it a little more seriously. Instead he buried it in a childish rant. It reads like an anti Viet Nam student rally speech from 1969. People see it and just laugh.

And I see that I am a close minded parrot coward now. All because I actually dare to have a different opinion than yours. That attitude is just sad. Actually it goes beyond sad and borders on pathetic.
    Sometimes I wonder...
"Why is that frisbee getting bigger?"
    Then it hits me.

    alexa? lol

"The problem with Alexa is that it draws data only from people who have the Alexa toolbar installed on their web browser. Since it's mostly marketers and tech types who have even heard of Alexa (and not your mom, aunt Sylvia or your best friend Joe), the results tend to skew toward the types of sites marketers and tech types enjoy."

I actually came to like this 'no mapvote'. It gives a nice variation of maps, instead of camps and almostlost all the time.
But ofcourse, we do need 3 good maps to choose from then. Not 2 maps for teamsize 8 when it's teamsize 4.
So fix link between actual teamsize and maps appearing in the 3mapvote thing, and we should be fine.
Ofcourse about 'bring back some maps', I totally agree. Like 12 CA maps isn't a lot...

the maps will cycle soon enough :> i love the new system bar on pro spawned servers, usually map pool is set via team size NORMALLY

agree with maps in the pick pool should be for the current team size which is set :>

edit: the sales figure being up was from sync himself :> in both forums and on irc on several occasions. I highly doubt they would publish those figures thou :>

As _malk says...googletrends gets it's info from browser info as well... and also that graph isn't detailed enough to show ANY change from the last week...although it does look like nothing's changed in terms of visits over the past year or so since the line is almost perfectly flat.

OMG, Dam man they give you 3 choices on the bottom on the page at each end of a match! And they are not the regular maps, Campgrounds is in the line up but the others are one's I've not played on much... I rather like the new system to be honest! Yeah I'm Pro, but I paid cos I like what I play, so I agree, either pay or go play something else! Guess what the something else is charging too!

Exactly. I always hated that public servers always ran the same maps, and that when finally an "unusual" map appears there was always someone to call vote for dm6. If forcing the choice between 3 maps randomly chosen can make people play more maps, I think it's for the better.

I agree with you the system needs to be improved in order to make the map panel fitting the number of players on the server.
For exemple on this picture (originally posted here), of the three maps proposed two are definitely not suited for 6v6 (teamsize according to the original poster). It should not happen.
But what do I also see? Seven players voted for those unsuited maps. NONE voted for the map suited for 6v6 (and a nice map, imo). Seeing this picture my first thought was that people were most broken than the voting system.

    'Backfire' would be an understatement.

Have u guys seen CA after the update. All of the high end players are gone, -vanished, they are not the ones complaining on the forums. They just leave; sorta like disgruntled, high level executives. Grabbed a box, their plant, and out the door. Not even a resignation letter. Good JOB ID, kill your hardcore players off. LOL

When Quakecon attendance numbers dive bomb, perhaps the devs will understand.

Let me explain it ID. Your entire quake player base feels like Mitzi after pissing on the couch.
