game slowed down

i was playing quake for some time and it was running well, but my computer froze and now the game is really delayed plus the screen is darker, how do i fix it ?

close your browser completely, check task manager to make sure there are no zombie exe's left (iexplore.exe, firefox.exe+plugin-container.exe, chrome.exe) if killing them hasn't helped reboot your PC.

Without further information (OS, ql cfg) I can only guess it's tied up processes.
