why? Well, I only played ra3 myself... but started at the age of 12 and despite some childhood memories such as doom1+2, duke3d and such, q3 was my first "real" FPS (as in online+competitive).
Ofc i started out rather bad and I was impressed by fragsmovies cut out of those pro matches, like double airrox at pillars (ALL*Blue iirc) and even more *****y RL defense over at the quad area, also including air rockets (hmmm... iC-panicore?).

As I got better myself, I got to know some german div2 ra3 teams
hdw hau dich windelweich - HFD hardcore fast and deadly - qu!ck quicksilver - 129 clan 129

and eventually div 1 teams that remain in my memories for decades - I guess.

the age of internationality started along with better teams, clanbase, pickups etc.
Starring clantags such as x3, fuv, poc, mX and many others,
but despite piece of cake I can't even remember the full names, you played against/with them but really only the tag is familiar (hmmm, wonder what it's like with 30 or 40 lol). Honorable mentions to dozens of teams that would certainly come to my mind if I really thought about it

It was a triple airrox by blue iirc and panicore took out the whole All* team in dm6 quad spawn point.

I don't remember ANY of the Quake2 clans anyone here is posting, I was in [NM] NoMercy if anyone remembers. Played on OGL HPB Ladder (got #1 with the team so maybe people played on other random leagues/ladders?)

As for NQ/QW, wow old memories. IHOS (Thresh's first QuakeClan before LGD and DeathRow) smashed us in the semi finals of the ClanRing tourney2 Open tournament I was in a clan called Order of Death, I soon left for Deimos. But once DeathRow went rolling on they were pretty much unbeatable in NQ.

I played tons of QW once 1.64 came about with a few clans including: nB (Negative Burn), lqd (Liquid), =res= (Respawn). I still talk with some of the members from the OLD EG/Nts (Evil Geniuses/Notorious).
