I've been playing Quake Live for a while, not really being sure but I think that switching between weapons went faster in the original Quake 3, and in Quake Live I've seen people switch weapons instantly, but how do they do that? :S
can't find any options for that? :S
Yeah this and the whispers about double jumps and next we'll agree with the better faster physics and bam! cpma! Praise the lord!
You can see instaswitch only in spectator mode. It is just animation skipped and only.

The mode I think you are refering to is CPMA, where weapon switches are fast enough to chain railgun to nearly everything.
