We've all heard those phrases used over and over and over again when teams are stacked one way or the other during team-based matches, particularly CTF and CA. Quite frankly, I'm getting sick of hearing it. Not because the phrases themselves are annoying, but because this complaint occurs WAY too often.

I joined a server yesterday (can't remember the map) where each team had 6 players and we were in warmup. 5 or 6 of the enemy team clicked "Ready" and I along with someone else were "ready" to play. 2 or 3 people quit from my team during the warmup period and then..."Prepare Your Team!" How can a game START with massively uneven teams? Doesn't that seem outrageous to anybody? I just finished playing a game of Vortex Portal CTF today where the score was 4 to 3, my team with 4, the enemy team with 3. Two people disconnected from my team, and the game went on despite calls to fix teams. Within what felt like seconds, they scored 5 points and the game was over. We lost.

There has to be some mechanism for evening up the teams, like there is in the old Quake. When teams get uneven, someone (probably the lowest or second lowest player of the team) should automatically switch to the other team. Exceptions could be made for those in CTF carrying the enemy flag. When it happens in CA, a player should automatically have to switch teams the next round.

But I dunno... Perhaps the automatic switching is a bit too radical, and might get some people who play honestly angry.

AT LEAST allow players to switch teams and MAINTAIN their score and stats. Zeroing the stats whenever you switch teams discourages a person with sportsmanship to even up the teams.

And for goodness' sake, allow for spectator slot queues! Spectators should be allowed to freely enter the game without clogging the server and forcing uneven teams. They should be given the option to "queue" into the actual game so that if someone drops, or if teams are uneven, they can quickly and easily take their place. Those who just wanna watch should be allowed to do so.

Also, in the Warmup Period, if teams are uneven by 2 or more players, the game should NOT start.

agreed, and to add to this there also should be something to the effect of "lockteams". maybe if someone quits during countdown then it goes back to warmup?

Yes, people should be allowed to just spectate without taking up a spot for those who want to play.

Actually, you do get everything added to your stats after the match ends. At least before this update brought this new teamswitching bug, you could see people who switched teams and what score they got in the other team.
Now it's a bit bugged but will be fixed.

However, I absolutely agree with you, something has to be done. It's obvious that the statistics-feature is the reason for this, so something should be changed.

Annoying is when the other team's better than you (them's the breaks) and people start quitting from your team just because they're losing. Pretty soon a slight deficit becomes a whitewash.

Nothing more to say, i fully agree.

Resolutions:
-forcing a RANDOM person in team with more (2)players to switch(maybe with a warning showing up and give the team a few seconds the chance to chose who will do)
-give ppl who quit a 20min Tempban(unable to join servers but can do all other stuff on website) this should no one anoy because if u leave a server u have something other to do.

All this should be only aply on public servers from id, not for the one from pro-subscribers.

If you leave you have something else to do in real life, so a 10-20 mins ban shouldn't hurt that much, Raz0rblade is right.

But before that, they should really work more on the Quit counter. Server disconnection, PB kick, all kind of errors count as a Quit, also when you go spec to make teams even and you stay like that until the end of the game (noone else joins) you get a Quit.

I stacked up ****loads of quits when PB was kicking me all day. That shouldn't have been counted, it's really annoying. Also, I have 6 quits since I started playing again and only 1 was a real quit, rest was always something else.

-most ppl quit on the LOSING team
-the lowest people on the lists are mostly the ones which arent that good
-the losing team would need good people to get it evened up

so switching the not so good people would be kinda dumb
would give free spaces at the winning team, and ull always just see that then someone enters the server who pwns all and join that winning team

no, it would be smarter to switch someone from higher in the list, or someone who hasnt joined long yet

and for what you can do for now:
if its not started yet, you can change teams freely
if ur team gets massively outnumbered, switch to the other team
you will have a fuller team, or the match wont start, both good for you
or if the game has already started, shouting TEAMS and getting angry often works
if it doesnt work, go to spec, to uneven the teams even more, and someone will switch, works about 9/10 times
