I also live in the UK and recieved a WMO from here last week: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...ef=oss_product
2 left in stock apparently, better hurry
I notice it's a different seller than from when I got it, but I doubt you'll have a problem.

I have 500Hz with my WMO on Win 7 64 bit, but it was quite a lot of work to get it running, and you get a small text on your desktop that says "Test Mode" (but it can be turned off in some hackish way). Not as easy as it was in XP..
Pretty sure I used this guide: http://www.ngohq.com/news/15043-how-...vista-7-a.html
opinions on the A4-Tech X-710Bh? peeps on overclock.net say it's great.. can be had for £26.

opinions on mice are subjective but i recentley picked up one of these:
MS Basic Optical Mouse v2.0
i love it! good size, excellent balance and it tracks like a bloodhound!
send me your abyssus and ill have a go at repairing it.
i do plastic repairs on motorocycle fairings.
I wonder how large it is / weight / what sensor
Cool it comes with some PDFs.
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en...-mouse#support
90 grams vs. 125 grams for the wmo. They weigh with the cord though, so these numbers are really much lower. So thumbs up on the weight.
According to this the sensor is 3000 fps, while the wmo sensor is 6000. Says the malfunction speed is the same though, but it's 800 cpi instead of 400? Wacky.
They listed exact dimensions too. Appears to be slightly smaller than the wmo, but not by much. This is cool stuff, just don't trust that sensor. Need more info even :-/

How do the lines look in paint? Should be difficult to draw straight lines.
For example: http://www.phoon.us/mouse/prediction.jpg
Otherwise it would be nice to know what sensor it uses, but I cannot figure out how to get this information other than having it completely dismantled and all the part numbers written down + high res photos.
Other issue is the malfunction speed. If you move the mouse fast does it go haywire? I suppose that's the biggest concern. Negative accel will take some doing to detect.
How is the polling rate? Does it handle 500 ok? How inconsistent is it at 1000?
Lift off distance? You can test with compact discs which are 1.2mm thick. Kind of need two on each side, so would need 4 to test for two cds thickness, 6 for 3.
I should probably just ask on esr, I'm sure someone has looked at this mouse before.
Or buy one yourself and test it if you're that interested, it's very cheapyou might be onto something.
