Broke my Abyssus :( -- (UK)

i broke it.

so i open it (it's maybe 3 months old?) and see that the outer shell has two minute pieces of filmsy plastic glued in that "click" the buttons.. one snapped, and now it's a £25 doorstop.

Yoyotech (london) doesnt have it, and if they did, it would be £36

They got the Logitech M500, around £25

The Deathadder respawn is a whopping £50

or Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3 Wired, at £22

i got mine from eBay, but getting another would take a week (

also, i really dont want to have to redo my config

problem is, this mouse here is great - at least the sensor is. maybe a little too small for me in body.
also, i'm weary of buying a second abyssus and finding it's got weird issues.. ofc, i only need the shell, but ...




thats it. any friendly tips are welcome and appreciated.

(i'm in london btw, so it's either Scan.co.uk or Yoyotech brick&mortar)

edit: scan has the CM Sentinel, is it any good?

As for a replacement mouse, the g500 you listed is a damn solid mouse, but going from an abyssus the size/shape/weight might have an annoying learning curve.

i guess i wouldnt mind a bigger mouse, actually that might be an improvement :/ i am tho 100% sure i'll miss the sensor.

all in all, if i can get confirmation that the deathadder build quality isn't as S**t as the Abyssus, i'd even buy that. £60 is steep, but if i have to ...

If you've got the patience, try something like this, using superglue or epoxy. If the hole prevents proper contact with the microswitch, stick on a piece of cut up credit card. Obviously you need to adjust the final height for the perfect click sensitivity. I did something like this with an old diamondback and it worked perfectly.

sigh .. might have to try a bastardized fix like that Spakk .. and Lorfa, WMO is out of stock everywhere, *but* they do sell the Explorer 3 .. is it any good?
(also re:WMO, W7 x64 decidedly repeals any attempt at hijacking the digital signature on the mouz drivers, so poll rate tweak is out of the question - tried already, meaning W7x64+WMO=125Hz)

to think i have defended this mouse so loudly and sternly .. i feel like crying :/

it's just ****ing ridiculous that a mouse so touted, with such a great sensor(mine at least, had a great sensor), from a brand that spends so much in advertisement and sponsors half of the quake pros around the world, makes a mouse with the click selectors made of glued brittle plastic WHEN ALL THEY NEEDED TO DO was to make two extensions of the moulded shell plastic... *** where they thinking !!!

(shape's also a lil'too small, but cord is great, weight is great, click sens is great .. )

Yes IE 3.0 is good.

If you liked it so much, why not try and fix it?
It's already broken, what can you do that's worse?
Any decent epoxy should do the trick.

Also, has anyone here tried to build their own 'Franken-mouse'?
Like, putting a sensor from one, into the body of another?
