Or any CTF map for that matter.
I just stumbled upon the "my MG is better than yours" remark, facepalmed and decided to mention it.

I might be wrong, but isn't the respawn time for the RG extended on most open maps, like spacecft?
As for the frustration with the map rotation, it is a common problem in all game modes. I suggest joining/making a clan with people interested in playing different maps. If there are enough of you on a server, a call vote for spacectf will never pass.
space ctf is my favorite map, always has been since q3. they've really dumbed it down though. first they moved rail to where the mid rl was. then they got smart and moved it back. also stupid that rail ammo is 5 now, w/ a longer respawn time for rail. adding plasma was ****ing ********. nerfing mg and rg in ql was ****ing ********. i still play it though, all the time.
although i thoroughly enjoy all the ground maps and am an avid ctf player, play a lot of pickup games.
but i agree about rune maps, they are so lametothemax.
Brief Recap:
- I discredited the map for being noobish with valid reasons.
- You said that I was a noob with your reasoning being that I was unable to be sneaky on a map which is the complete opposite of stealth - bright green men flying through the air, all approaching from the 90 degree field of view in front of the flag. That is what an ad hominem argument (lit: 'to the man') is; ignoring the relevant points raised by the other person in the discussion and attempting to discredit the person instead. So no, I'm not going to use an ad hominem argument in return about the competition maps.
- I, unlike you, have better things to do than look back at a month's worth of games on the map and looked at the last couple at most and noticed you had a rail of about an average of 50 on whilst I hit around 70 on that map, about 50 on other maps - hence my accuracy remark although my main reason for even saying this was just to use your phraseology to illustrate the lameness of an ad hominem attack.
- Your answer to the map being competitive wasThat really doesn't answer the question of why it's not used in Team CTF map pools, it's just your way of saying I hate playing with people who aren't as good as me on this map - equally the same could be said on every map by someone who is better than his teammates on them, but some people who like playing CTF do so because they enjoy the team aspect. If you played clan matches as well, you'd realise that the skill-levels are tighter than they are in public games (although still very variable).Originally Posted by TheMolester
- You then challenge me to a duel on a CTF map - a map where there is no way for an out-of control player to actually gain a stack and weapons without the other player knowing exactly where you are (and easily picking you off with the rail) because - as I already said - THERE IS NO STEALTH ON A STRAIGHT FORWARD MAP WITH NO WALLS.
- Finally you accuse me of trash-talking even though you quite clearly made a remark about my quake skills first whilst I only commented on the map initially. Then when someone else steps in (from another clan - nice PCW's last night by the way Pony) about what's been said and discrediting you looking at MG stats, you cry like a child that 'pollenski started it'
SO I guess I have to answer again why spacectf is not suitable for competitive clan play and again wait for credible reasons/counter arguments why it might be:
1) Eliminates stealth as a valid tactic (waiting for evidence to the contrary)
2) Eliminates strafe-jump movement skills from having an affect in the game (except for the strafe past the 50hp to the MH to the other 50hp bypassing the jump-pads). The lack of strafing (a skill unique to Quake type games) levels the playing field amongst Quake players as it essentially means that aim and a couple of trick-jumps which can be learnt in a few hours are the only important skills on this map. Most of the other CTF maps require good strafing, trick-jumping and aim.
3) Essentially becomes a TDM game as to who can control the railguns - this map is unsuitable for TDM for the same reasons it's unsuitable for duelling as stated above.
4) Clan CTF competitions are usually 4v4.
Please learn to discuss things properly, don't learn from your politicians and attack the person before the points.

@ pollenski
brief recap:
You quoted something I said, called it a noob map, then made an opinionated statement about stealth and 'sneaking'
I then disagreed with your statement. and went on to say "just because you're rubbish on a map doesn't mean the map suck, it just means y........" I don't believe I actually called you a noob. Unless you took my "defenders" comment later on to heart. I believe you actually called me a noob first BTW, maybe not outright, but calling it a "noob map" in the context of quoting me.... far closer than I got.
Then you came in with the accuracy statement. Ending with another attacking statement, stating I'm full of it.
Forgive me if I didn't find your points to be "valid", more like opinions.
YOU are the one that called on stats as a way of comparing our skill, forgive me for having actually researched it. I agreed with the person that posted about stat comparrison being fail. I even LOL'd at your accuracy comparison before I went into details on the stats.
Now, let's discuss your points:
1. Stealth - Your point is relative and purely opinionated. There are ways of moving about SpaceCTF without them knowing where went, and more importantly, where you are going.
2. Strafe-jumping - Here I think you are flat out wrong. There are many, many different strafe jumps on SpaceCTF, again, I'll gladly demonstrate for you. I'd also like to see you get consistent with the trix on that map in just a "few hours" of learning. This map is very unforgiving when it comes to even the simplest of mistakes.
3. TDM - Can't argue this, as most CTF matches turn into TDM, especially pub servers. I'd only say you're being selective given your disposition on this map.
4. Clan matches - I'm sorry, can you not do 4v4 on SpaceCTF? Oh you can. Glad that's settled.
