    Exclamation Ql subscription solution

Since we see a lot of arguing over free vs paid, map access etc, I have an idea i think is fairly decent.

We give the free players access to all maps. Give em what they want. Free players want jap castles? Come on down. Lets make every map and game feature completely free.

Heres the catch. Just like every other free service out there, you get limited use. Free services cut you off after a certain monthly bandwidth or hour mark is reached and you can get more time/bandwidth by paying a subscription fee. So heres what Id should do with QL. Give all maps to free users, and set a monthly hour limit in game. Say 8-10 hours per month. That gives approximately 24-30 games free each month if each game lasts 20 minutes. After those hours are up, subscription time can be purchased for 1.99 per month unlimited access. This will give free players the maps they claim to want, and also force them to stop being petty about 2 bucks a month.

There is no excuse to be unable to fork over 1.99 for something you play for hours on end. If you genuinely cant afford it, well you get roughly 1 free game per day. Maybe farmville is right for you.

What is the point of all this discussion? Is there some sort of premise or pretext that this game has much of a future? Is that the thought process? Then this is wasted effort. The best efforts to make this game functional beyond the same, small, under-culture, cult following that Q3 had/has, has already been tried. It failed.

Be happy with what you have today. Tomorrow you will have even less. There is only one destiny for Quake Live. Don't fight the inevitability. Goodbye, Mr. Anderson.......

i dont want some jerks jumping around on jap castles and whine about tier slumming so no fking way to allow them that!
every game requires cash to play, they can go on any game and they are gonna spend a lot more then here!

game cards would solve alot of payment and sub problems... i've said this since the start... WoW has them... damn ruinescape ( yes i know i spelled it wrong i dont care... i absolutely HATE that game... LOL) u can get microsoft points and Xbox live subs by game cards... and yes i say it even FarmVille has them out... why not Quake Live... im pretty sure everyone can get a walmart within 30 minutes... and probably visit it often... wouldnt it be way more convenient to just hit up wally world grab ya PREM or PRO card go home enter a code BAM done... simple right... given the money issue to make the cards and codes... blah blah... still would make people getting a sub easier...
NuckingFuts: i dont care who i frag. or who frags me. long as its legit frags all around.

Turbulence: We should all be thought of as equal and no one should assume they are more superior than the other.

Is credit card still the only way to pay for QL? (I subscribed so I can't find the payment options.)

How would that entice more standard users to subscribe?

Maybe, although I think all maps available (and FT?) far outweighs the possibility to vote - at least it would to me.

I think the two chief reasons people don't subscribe are
    1. Payment options (subscription length, payment type)
    2. On principal ("I paid for Q3A, QL is basically the same game, why should I pay?")
