Dedicated Spectator Slots would still help solve a lot of problems...

Quake 3 already has the functionality to allow extra players to connect and watch the game without being able to join and go over the player limit. Please implement this!

1. It would make uneven teams less likely, as players could simply join when others ragequit/disconnect/get PB kicked etc.
2. It would not penalize players for simply spectating the game; as it is now players who do this are often taking up a slot and forcing uneven teams
3. It would encourage noobies to learn from good players. You could allow lower skilled players to spectate - but not join - advanced games.

This has been suggested hundreds of times on the old forums, because it is a good idea.

This has been the source of annoyance a long time now, fix it!

Its actually not about seperate spectator slots, its about adding an option to vote the teamsize. For example: /callvote teamsize 4 will allow 8 players to play. All other connects will end up as spectators and can only join if someone quits. If we get this, the 12 slot server make sense.

Exactly. All servers should have 16 or even more slots, but varying *maximum team sizes.*
