Recording should start at the countdown before the duel begins. If you don't see the notification then, press your /record bind. So you can concentrate on the duel by the time it starts.

i understand the workaround but i would rather get the point across that this is a bug that needs to be addressed.
auto-record demo function skips some matches
I'm not sure if it skips them or just doesn't save the demos. It's not a new issue at all and it happens somewhat rarely but it's random so it could happen often too. I'm talking about a completely normal CA match, no quits, no spectating, no team switch, not devpick, not large CA, not unrated, not unrestricted, nothing abnormal about it. I could play for example 20 matches a day and all the auto-recorded demos are there except for 1 which is missing, even the auto-screenshot is taken and saved on my HDD but the demo is nowhere to be found.
Any ideas on what is causing this, how to prevent it or find the missing demos (impossible imho)?

could be that it doesnt work on matches you didnt join from the beginning.
as in f3 to end warmup and it activates.. im not sure but i think a friend told me this once.

That problem also occured to me. I still don't know what caused it but it could be because I had barely 4 GB left on my harddrive.
I am pretty convinced it's not related to late joining or low hdd free space.
Move it to bug report if you think it's really a bug but I'm not completely sure.
I was seriously hoping an admin or dev would give any kind of a little hint though.
