You don't, the OP lists a webchat interface to the irc channel.

The quakelive irc channel is subject to the same terms as the rest of the site, there is a bot there that helps to enforce them.

i get k-lined when i try to join irc.quakenet.org coz it says no connections from asia-pacific region allowed

I'd recommend anyone to join the IRC server #Quakenet. Its an IRC server devoted to gaming, if there's a game you like, type it in, and if there isn't already a channel created, you can create it yourself!.

gamesurge is for noobs. why would a QUAKE channel be on a non-QUAKE server? QUAKEnet is for QUAKE, and QUAKE live is QUAKE.

well looks like everyone is on GS, im there now, quakenet was never really popular when ETG was around, btw.. even though its for QUAKE....also quakenets only bigger cause its not used JUST for quake and has been around WAYYY longer...GS seems to be the better choice for NA imo
