still borked as hell
just won a match by about 20 points. Second place was someone with higher ELO than me. I lost 7 ELO, he gained 3.
My ELO change:
I have a fuzzy understanding, so the following may not be wholly accurate.
This is an artifact of either or both of the following features:
1: movement is, by default, rendered client side....
Not sure how it's calculated, but generally if you play better against good players, your ELO will rise.
However, the system doesn't seem to work very well:
be sure you are only including the characters of their name, and not their clan tag.
good stuff, you and I have very similar mousing styles. I'm also assuming you use invert mouse, right?
the rating system is there, for better or for worse (i think for better). Many have noticed a problem with it, and are reacting accordingly. We'd like the number to have some meaning so we can better...
Even if that was the case (and it wasn't), the person who came in second played for the exact same amount of time that I did, so his frag/time ratio was lower than mine. He should have lost at least...
Just lost 11 ELO for coming first place. Second place person had higher ELO than me, and didn't lose or gain any ELO points for that match. I think this proves the system isn't working like it should?
thanks! working perfectly now :)
still can't get demo player to show up - tried reinstalling qlprism and qlive from scratch - no dice.
on win xp sp3
weird, mine doesn't show it anymore (used to in previous versions).
latest version seems to have no demo player, unless I'm blind. Anyone else?
haha i remember seeing that the other day and going ***!
thanks eulogy, that's useful to know.
thanks, will try that route. I'll post back here if I find out any info
Noticed some oddities in the system. For example, I often lose ELO points for coming in first.
For example, look at my recent matches here:

I'm well aware of what the doppler effect is "in real life". It sounds like you haven't had much experience with the s_doppler in quake.
you can hear the doppler even when the rocket isn't in visual range, so vision isn't always enough.
few reasons why the knowledge can be useful, off the top of my head:
*if you're camped out in...
I use it primarily because it gives additional information about the proximity of a rocket to you. This can be useful for a number of reasons.
i get rock solid 125 fps on that map with a pretty ancient system. geforce 9800 GT and an intel core2duo e8400 @ 2ghz. The geforce is actually underclocked so that it is stable.
I play at 1280x800...
