A TDM Binds Script with modifier keys

So I wrote this little ditty yesterday, thought I'd share it with you. It may still need a little tweaking, such as the colour-readability-attention relationship of certain binds, or what each of them actually says, but other than that, I consider it a complete script, to be added on to as the need arises.

In essence, I have dedicated a button for each of the major items, Quad, BattleSuit, MH and RA, with them by default simply relaying the time of the next spawn of their respective item(in my opinion, the function for which quick communication is most needed, e.g. 'Quad in 30!', 'RA in 15!'). The script comes alive with the modifier keys, again, each with a dedicated message of their own, these being 'Area secure/take it', 'area lost/enemy took it', etc.

I wrote these as a means to have little 'ace' up my sleeve, but then figured that the more people know about it, the better situational comm. will become where voice communication is unavailable (primarily pubs), and as such, I am sharing this with the community.

I have plans to expand on this script, with adding such things as weapon requests/weapon spawns, basic objectives, etc. Functionally, I also intend on expanding this with modifiable modifiers, more expansive combinations, etc., but more on that at a later time*.

I suggest that instead of glancing over it, you actually try it, as you may find the basic idea/execution worthwhile for your game, and tweak it for your own needs. I suggest you keep it at a separate file (for example TDMBinds.cfg) as quake has a way of sometimes returning aliases as missing, for whatever reason; a quick '/exec tdmbinds' will solve that (I cycle my different bind files with a key, rebinding my numpad to fit the gametype, so that problem is nonexistent. You may want to do that to avoid having to type in-console every time that happens).

*EDIT* Rushed this post a tad, shortly before rushing to pick up a parcel or the post office would close (made it 5 minutes before closing time). Here is a bit of an explanation as to how this script works in game.

Modifier keys here work the exact same way SHIFT, ALT, CTRL and WIN keys work normally- holding them down produces an alternate symbol or shortcut function. Below is a table to better illustrate the script in its current form.

*I'm keeping the other ideas relatively hush-hush as I know that if someone else does it first, I'll just end up hacking that, rather than building my own script logic from the ground up, and as someone studying scripting and programming, I need all the practice I can get.

If there are any questions, suggestions, tweaks or anything else, I'd love to hear. Also, the abbreviation for Battle Suit is censored, I found xD. You will need to fix every instance of double-asterisks (**) with the letters B and S, without spaces, manually.

Hi! I want to improve LG accuracy, with bot i usually reach 40-45% accuracy easily, but in an online CA 1vs1 (Thunderstruck) i reach only 10-15% accuracy...

My ping is 30ms (italian servers) and 40-50ms (other servers). I use cg_truelightning = 0.97/0.99 and FOV 103 on a 1280x800 monitor (It's not a 120hz monitor :( ). My mouse is: CM Storm Sentinel Zero G and my mouse pad is: Roccat Sense (I'll buy a Steelseries Qck soon). My mouse options are:

-Sensitivity: 4.55
-Accel: 0
-in_mouse: 2

And i use 1600CPI.

I know i have to use strafe key to aim, but my accuracy doesn't improve! If you need a demo i'll upload here soon :)

Thank you!

Welcome...

Protip: Your mouse sensitivity may be holding you back. (Here's why)

Im no pro (yet:o), but I know that all the research & trials Iv done with my mouse sensitivity have helped me alot, and Id like to pass along what Iv learned on my own, if youll allow me. This may be very very very helpful to you so if you're curious please read through...

When we refer to our true mouse sensitivity there is only one way to express it so that everyone can understand regardless of game settings and mouse dpi. This way is a measurement, and this measurement is called your cm or Inches/360!

W*F IS THIS I SAY?!

...Your Inches or Centimeters/360 describes how many inches you must move your mouse horizonally (left or right) to do a full 360degree turn in game. To measure your own In/360 all youll need is a ruler and your wits. While ingame (any game) target an object or a wall corner, place your ruler below your mouse, then slide your mouse horizontally across your table untill youve done a full 360degree turn ingame. Now read the distance your mouse had to travel along your ruler and Vwalla thats your inches per 360.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT DUDE?!

...Ill tell you why; because having just decided to start taking multiplayer FPS seriously and being the ripe old age of 27years with no time to pick my nose with noobies I needed to know one thing... What are the pros doing? They must know something about being good at this wonderful FPS thing.

So I reasearched...

...and what I found was that professional FPS players across the board play with three levels of mouse sensitivity: Low, Lower, and Reeeealy f*ckn Low in comparison to your average FPS player. Im talkin 9..... 11..... 13....... 15............ 19 inches per 360, and thats just for quake live, forget counterstrike, some of those pro-bros are using the full width of their 17" steelseries mouse pads (of which u might consider buying) to do a 180degree turn ingame. Strenx (youtube it) arguably Quake 3s finest, plays at 19in/360.

BUT WHY DUDE WHY? I DONT UNDSTAND?!

Professional players play at these low sensitivities for one reason, Accuracy. With less sensitivity, the determining factor of weather or not you place your shots where you want them to go (anytime every time ) doesn't rely on a poop turd knee jerk reaction, but rather a more conscious and calculated slide of your mouse, using not just your fingertips or just your wrist, but a little elbow too. It will take some getting used to, but this is way of manipulating your sights is less stressful and more physical and pleasurable once you get the hang of it. Plus I find it much much much easier to get those Rail Gun shots on target at long rang, and track targets at medium range with the LG (Lightning Gun) without having to rely on moving myself in pace with my opponent's footsteps.

IDK DUDE SOUNDS G*Y... HOW DO I KNOW IF I BELIEVE YOo :p

Ok so I know its been a long journey so far, but here's the last of this post... Like I said before I am no pro, and Iv only been playing for 2months, but I am glad to say I have done allot of experimentation with mouse sensitivity and I am now ready to live out the rest of my days knowing: Its not about how High you can go comfortably, but how Looow you can go comfortably. I myself am proud to say after incrementally lowering my mouse sensitivity in quake live from 3inches per 360 to 4inches to 6inches to 9inches; so far Iv settled on 11in/360 and I'm very happy with it. Its low enough to slice off Rail shots at long range without relying on foot movement, and its high enough to chain rocket jumps from wall to wall to ceiling if I have to.

Anyways this is Oldsoul signing out &...

Question to tweaking masters :)

Maybe anybody knows how to hack (in non malicious way of course) game browser to show ALL the games?

I suspect even with one location chosen, not all games show up. One-two refresh can result in showing several new games, where 4-5 players are already playing, so I assume there is some kind of algorithm, which chooses somehow which servers to show. Since it shows a lot of empty servers too, I think it's based on some random factor, not affected by spawned server population.

In QLPrism (greasemonkey alt browser) if I choose all locations and then filter by city names, for example Frankfurt and Maidenhead, it correctly filters servers only from these two locations, but as a result I see quarter or even less games per location. Duels usually are not even listed at all and only after I choose one location from "Customize" menu, then I am able to see duels too.

How come the weapons config in practice mode is not available for regular play? On this mac i can't access the console without changing language settings and i rather don't do that right now. Everything i have changed is solely in the options the game gives me.

I´ve been reading this forum a lot lately to figure out how to improve. I was intrigued by have different settings for each weapon. Tried it out in practice mode and the results were promising, particularly having lower sensitivity with the railgun.

Changing this was pretty easy but i was disappointed when the changes did not take effect in regular play and was not available to be configured there. How come?

I might actually have to make my own config now with such promising results, not really looking forward to it. My technical know-how sucks.

Im using crappy x7 mouse but im very satisfied how it works but there is a little problem...Im playing with very low sensitivity on 400dpi so when i wanna fast turn 180 degrees i press the dpi button to fast change dpi to 1600 and it works very well, its like bind turn 180 degrees which is impossible in quake, The problem starts when i press the dpi button the small window SOMETIMES appears on bottom of the screen and shows me that i changed dpi and decreases my fps from 125 to 70 and it feels very laggy so is there any way to remove that window permanently?

Hi guys...
Just realized that settings/addvanced/weapon config doesnt work online so i tried to use console instead... but console seems too short for my binds :/
for exemple:
bind mwheeldown "weapon 5;cg_fov 115;sensitivity 2;cg_drawcrosshair 2;cg_crosshairsize 32;cg_crosshaircolor 6"
Obviously that cant fit inside console so i tried to type :
bind mwheeldown "weapon 5;cg_fov 115;cg_drawcrosshair 2" then
bind mwheeldown "weapon 5;sensitivity 2;cg_cg_crosshaircolor 6;cg_crosshairsize 32"
But sensitivity crosshair color and crosshair size didnt work.... so is there any way to set all of that in console?
